WHAT TO EXPECT?
We will be travelling in convoy with two Toyota FJ Cruiser wagons (four persons per car), fully equipped with radio’s, satellite navigation, satellite phone, EPIRB (rescue beacon), self- recovery winch and equipment driven by very experienced drivers who are trained in 4 x 4 driving and recovery and first aid. We will driving through and camping at some very rugged, remote and stunningly beautiful areas of the Cape York Peninsula with an adverse amount of different flora and fauna.
Due to the remoteness services will be very limited. You will be sharing with people of different ages and different backgrounds but some things in common, an interest in the beauty of the Australian flora and fauna and remote rugged beauty that is “The Cape York” peninsula and other common interests like getting off the beaten track and a taste of adventure.
We will be setting up camp in various locations with everyone’s assistance in setting up the swags, help with the cooking and packing away of the equipment it will ease the trip even more allowing more time to explore and enjoy the “Cape”.
WHAT IS INCLUDED?
Meals and beverages-except where otherwise stated in the itineraries, National Park fees. Camping fees. Ferry transfers. Sky dome swags (with high density foam mattress). Sleeping bags and pillows. Limited alcohol (due to government alcohol restrictions in the Cape).
WHAT IS NOT INCLUDED?
All transfers including accommodation on route to and from home cities. Personal items such as mobile phones, cameras, laundry, travel insurance and any souvenirs.
WHAT TO BRING?
Casual wear is a must avoiding any white color clothing as dust staining may occur. Three changes of clothing is recommended and some light weight long sleeve shirt and long pants for the night. Comfortable enclosed foot wear for hiking and walking the rugged landscape. Swim wear with towel and toiletries. Insect repellent and sun screen. A hat and sunglasses. Last but not least a camera and a yearning for the great outdoor Australian adventure.
WHAT IS MY LUGGAGE ALLOWANCE?
One small soft carry bag, or overnight bag no bigger than 605mm x 505mm x 380mm (24 x 20 x 15). Weight of bag not exceed 12 kilograms as space is limited. One piece of hand luggage (daypack) is advisable for everyday use for sunscreen, camera, etc.
DO YOU PICK UP AND DROP BACK TO MY ACCOMMODATION?
Yes. If you are staying in Port Douglas we can pick up direct from your accommodation. Pick ups from Cairns can be arranged through one of the local transfer companies. We will then suggest where you can wait for your pick up by your Dragon Adventures guides.
